Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: January 29, 2011)

Britney Spears earns her 4th #1 as 'Hold It Against Me" debuts at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her first three #1 songs were her debut single "Baby One More Time" in 1999 and it took almost 10 years before she got another one with "Womanizer" in 2008 then the next year she had her 3rd song for the song, aptly title, "3" in 2009 which also debuted at #1. Britney Spears didn't really have that many chart toppers during the height of her career in the early 2000s because back then the Hot 100 chart was airplay driven and the digital sales was not yet mainstream and the only "sales" that counted back then was the physical CD singles which was already on decline back then and Britney's label didn't release a lot of her singles on that format. But it was a strategy to boost her album sales which actually worked because Britney's album were all million sellers. Britney other top 10 hits were "Gimme More" (#3), "Ooops...I Did It Again" (#9), "Toxic" (#9) and "(You Drive Me) Crazy" (#10).

Avril Lavigne's new single "What The Hell" debuts at #13 earning her 6th top 20 single. Avril's biggest hit so far on the Hot 100 is "Girlfriend" which was #1 in 2007. Her other top 20 singles are "Complicated" (#2), "Sk8er Boi" (#10), "I'm With You" (#4), and "My Happy Ending" (#9)

The longer chart sitter "I Like It" by Enrique Iglesias fall #34-#45 on its 36th week and could drop out of the chart next week and go recurrent. If "I Like It" falls the longest chart sitter honors would be shared by two songs "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz which spends 33rd week on the chart this week (down #11-#18) and "Animal" by Neon Trees also 33 weeks on the chart (down #27-#34).

Here are songs in the Top 40 that achieved new peaks thisw week: Whiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" (7-5), Chris Brown's "Yeah 3x" (16-15), Edward Maya And Vika Jigulina's "Stereo Love" (17-16), Far East Movement and Ryan Tedder's "Rocketeer" (23-17), Pitbull and T-Pain's "Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor)" (22-20), Christina Perri's "Jar of Hearts" (30-28), Flo Rida and Akon's "Who Dat Girl," (39-29), Pink's "F**kin' Perfect" (57-30), Usher's "More" (47-33), and Jeremih's "Down on Me"(45-38).

Dropping and going recurrent this week are Sugarland's "Stuck Like Glue" (#44 last week, 24 weeks on the chart, peak: 17), Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" (#48 last week, 20 weeks on the chart, peak: 39), Taylor Swift's "Mine" (#50 last week, 23 weeks on the chart, peak; #3) and seven-week #1 Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem and Rihanna finally bows out on the chart after 29 weeks.
