First Time

Today I receive my first ever Christmas bonus! It's not that much since I've been just in the company for five months but nevertheless I really felt to receive it. I was planning to share a portion it to my parents but they said I could keep it, well, I just shared a portion to my one-year old nephew of course through her mother, my sister, she will deposit it on my nephew's bank account. I also gave a portion to my cousin who has been living with us for the past 6 months taking care of my nephew and helping my mother with household chorse and sometimes my sister with her business. She was a great help to us and this my way to show my thanks. What will I do with the remaining money? A portion is already saved for my bank account and with what's left I'm planning to buy an MP4 player, not a flashy brand though 'coz I can't afford that. What's weird is that the MP4 Player I'm planning is actually for the purposes of my radio listening haha. Well, that player could record FM radio and well since I cover music charts and all, it would be a big help haha. I know radio geek still
Anyway, thank you Lord for the blessings. It really felt because as I've said before among the three jobs I had this one is the one I felt I was at home and well, useful and productive :)

Shocked

When I found out what happened at Maguindanao my jaw literally dropped. I can't believe it. It was a massacre. I've heard many times how intense the local politics is in the provinces but this was one was just unbelievable. Around 40 people were killed and some were raped, beheaded. This is the work of a monster. And it shocks that the root of this is political power struggle. There were also journalists who were caught in the middle and were murdered. My heart bleeds for the family of the victims. I hope justice will prevail. God bless their souls

Prediction: Billboard Yearend Chart 2009

Billboard's chart year ends on this week's chart (with issue date of 11.28.09) and with that, I'll share my prediction on what songs would likely make the top 10 of 2009. For those who don't know, Billboard's chart starts with December of the outgoing year until November of the incoming year. Why? It's more of a publication issue since Billboard needs to release the year-end edition of the magazine on December so that's why they need the extra time to produce therefore the early cutoff. Anyway, here goes my prediction:

Wildcards to make it to the top 10: Taylor's You Belong With Me, All American Reject
's Gives You Hell and Kings of Leon's Use Somebody

10. I'm Yours - Jason Mraz



I know this song was so 2008 but this year it made a record breaking 79 weeks on the chart and it was present 90% of the chart year and despite not even reaching the top 5, I'm sure this song will land in the year-end top 10. I may be underestimating this song in my prediction and it could even chart higher in the year-end chart.

9. Heartless - Kanye West


This song debuted at #4 and peaked at #2, it stayed on the Hot 100 for 30 weeks and also spawned several covers for this song.

8. Live Your Life - T.I feat Rihanna



This is another 2008 hit but given the chart year, the song performed well on the start of the chart year and with download sales of 3 million plus and heavy airplay, I will be not surprised if this song would appear on the top 10

7. Love Story - Taylor Swift


This pop crossover breakout single from Taylor Swift became the best selling country song in the digital era and also received heavy airplay. It stayed on the charts for 49 weeks and peaked at #4

6. Right Round - Flo Rida



Last year Flo Rida topped the 2008 year-end chart with Low and this year he will make another appearance on the year-end although not as successful as Low but still a big hit. This song set the record for the highest first week digital sales with 600+ thousand and topped the Hot 100 for 6 weeks

5. Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) - Beyonce


This iconic song from Beyonce also started its chart life on the tail end of 2008 but reached #1 at the start of chart year. It spent 27 weeks on the chart, 4 weeks at #1 and with digital sales of about 3 million

4. I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas



Black Eyed Peas dominated the Hot 100 this year as it ruled for 26 consecutive weeks at #1 and 14 weeks of which was for this song. It debuted at #2 and spent 22 weeks on the chart to date. Given the amazing performance of this song, I could have rank this song higher but the next three songs debuted earlier and had massive sales and airplay plus longevity.

Looking at the statistics for Top 3 songs we could tell that any of the three songs could top the year-end chart. My basis of ranking the three songs is base purely on gut feeling because it is really anybody's game which makes the chart exciting.

The Inevitable 'How Time Flies'

I'm now on my 5th month on my 3rd job and I'm doing good so far. My contract is until December 31 and next year I will find out if I will be a regular employee already. I'm confident to say I have a good shot of being a regular employee, I'm never late, I submit my scripts on time and as for the quality of work, it's above average base from the feedback I've received, there is still room for improvement but its not disastrous. I'm happy to say I found my groove on this job, something I did not find on my first two jobs. If I will be a regular employee, I believe this will be a steady job for me. So crossing my fingers. Writing scripts for dubbing is something I really enjoy. Yes, I still have my ultimate career goals but I got to start somewhere and this is a good starting point.

My nephew is growing so fast and I love seeing him grow. I babysit on Sundays and it's hard job, it's physically exhausting but fulfilling especially whenever I see him laugh and smile. I'm glad he is a healthy boy unlike me when I was his age.

2009 is almost coming to an end and it was very challenging year for me, it started really difficult but at least I'm fairly happy now. I'm still a bit amazed how time flies, this decade is about to wrap up! I'm an adult now! Everything is changing. It's scary I admit, sometimes I still wish I was a student, looking back, despite the school stress, life is more simpler back then. As a 22 year old working person now, I'm already thinking about the future unlike before that there is a definite end in every school year, all your hardship for a school year will be culminated in a few months time. Now, it's so different. I'm already thinking of how my life should by the time I'm 25. But I'm taking one step at a time, no need to freak out this early. Just have the faith that everything will be fine as long as you have a goal.

I received this text message earlier today and I was shocked.Dr. Ricardo Santiagpo fondly called as Sir RS passed away. Sir RS was my professor in Ethics in college and he is a great professor. He has the reputation of being a terror prof, well he actually he is, but he is not the type of terror prof that does it to scare students or to impose authority. He is scary but you will really respect his teaching skills and wisdom. He does it for a reason. His teaching method is not conventional. His classes are not strictly mandated by syllabus and such but what he believes we should learn on our pace. He is the type of professor that you will have fun listening to. Yes, he joke a lot but underneath the jokes you'll discover the wisdom on it.

I feel privileged to be one of his students and he is surely a great loss at DLSU-D. Wherever you are Sir RS THANK YOU!
