Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: December 11, 2010)

As reported yesterday, "Raise Your Glass" by Pink tops the Billboard Hot 100 this week dethroning Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World) after just a week on top. "Raise Your Glass" becomes the 5th song in five consecutive weeks to top the Billboard Hot 100 and according to Billboard, this fast turnover rate has not happened since September 1990! "Like a G6" was the last #1 song that stayed more than a week atop Hot 100 (2 weeks at #1) before it was interrupted by Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" and Rihanna and Drake's"What's My Name", for a week each. "Like a G6" then returned for a week on top but was dethroned last week by Rihanna's "Only Girl". And it is likely that, yet again, we will see a new #1 next week as Katy Perry's "Firework" is #1 on iTunes and rising in airplay. The Top 10 this week has six songs that topped the chart and if all those songs stay in the top 10 next week and my forecast of "Firework" topping next week's chart will happen, it will be now a 7:10 #1 to >#1 ratio.

The Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)" ascends to #9 this week, making it the 6th consecutive Top 10 hit for Black Eyed Peas and 9th overall. The group first hit the top 10 with the 2003 hit "Where is The Love" which peaked at #8. Two years later "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and "My Humps" peaked at #3. And then in 2009, "Boom Boom Pow" became their first #1 staying on top for 12 weeks and was replaced by another BEP song "I Gotta Feeling" which stayed even longer on top with 14 weeks. The third single "Meet Me Halfway" peaked at #7, they returned at #1 for two weeks earlier this year with "Imma Be" and "Rock That Body", the final single from "The E.N.D", reached #9.

Bruno Mars' "Grenade" jumped to #10 this week, making it Bruno Mars' 4th straight Top 10 (2nd on his own) after Grammy nominee for Record of The Year "Nothin on You" by B.o.B, Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" and "Just The Way You Are" which climbs to #4 this week. "Grenade" is currently #3 on iTunes so expect this song to likely jump in the Top 5 next week.

This week's top debut is not from Glee but from Enrique Iglesias "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You") enters the chart at #18. This is Enrique's highest Hot 100 debut ever. This was made by possible by the song's strong sales, it sold 97K this week. It should be noted though that the song' s sales is the combined sales for both the "clean" and "explicit" version. Yes, Enrique has an 'explicit" song now! The 'explicit' version of this song is titled "Tonight (I'm F*ckin You)". This is Enrique's 6th top 20 hit on the Hot 100. He has two #1 songs with "Bailamos" in 1999 and "Be With You" in 2000, followed by "Hero" in 2001 which peaked at #3 . "Escape" which peaked #12 in 2002 was the last Top 20 hit for Enrique Iglesias until this year when his single "I Like It" hit the airwaves and peaked at #4. "I Like It' is just actually two ranks below "Tonight" as it climbs one notch to #20 on it's 29th week on the chart (the longest chart sitter on the Hot 100 this week)

When I first heard about "The Ready Set" I thought this was a band but well I was wrong sincethis is just the stage name for 21 year old musician Jordan Witzigreuter ala Owl City and Five for Fighting. The Ready Set's first single "Love Like Woe" is shaping to be a future smash as it have been steadily climbing the charts for the past few months and this week "Love Like Woe" climbs to #27 . I predict that if this song will get a major TV exposure it will blow up. Let's wait and see

It has been more than a year since Michael Jackson passed away and he is definitely will not be forgotten, His record label will release a new album this month comprising of unreleased tracks from the King of Pop and the lead single from that set "Hold My Hand" which features Akon debuted last week at #84 and it jumps to #50 this week. I'm curious if this song will be a posthumous hit for the King of Pop. Last year, Michael Jackson's posthumous single "This Is It" failed to chart on the Hot 100 although it received wide airplay on Adult Contemporary radio. "This Is It" is nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance on the 53rd Grammy Awards which will be awarded on February 2011.

Saying goodbye this week on the chart is Sarah Bareilles' "King of Anything" after 22 weeks on the chart, it last charted at #41 last week and peaked at #32. This isSarah's second best performing song on the Hot 100 after the 2007 smash hit "Love Song" which peaked at #4 and garnered nominations for "Song of The Year" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" on the 51st Grammy Awards. "King of Anything" is also nominated on the 53rd Grammy Awards for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance"

Also saying adieu is Jason DeRulo's "What If" after two short weeks on the chart and peaking at #76. "What If" is easily the worst performing single from DeRulo as his first three singles all hit the top 10. "Whatcha Say" hit #1 last year, follow up "In My Head" peaked at #5, and third single "Ridin' Solo" settled for a #9 peak. Such a shame the song flopped because "What If" is my favorite single from him so far.
