Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: March 17, 2012)

We Are Young by fun. and Janelle Monae climbs at #1 on this week's Billboard Hot 100. The song dislodges last week's #1 Stronger by Kelly Clarkson thanks to selling 302k this week, good enough to overcome Clarkson's lead in airplay. This is the first Hot 100 entry actually for both indie band fun. and acclaimed R&B musician Monae so what a breakthrough single it is for both of them. The song first debuted last December 2011 thanks to a Glee cover (which debuted/peaked at #12) but it dropped out after 2 weeks but then the song got another boost thanks to a car commercial which was aired on the SuperBowl and from thereon the song dominated the digital sales and is now currently moving fast on the airplay charts. It's really refreshing to have this type of song topped the Hot 100.

Adele's has four songs inside the top 40 this week! Third single Set Fire to the Rain drops to #3 on its 27th week, second single Someone Like You falls to #24 on its 35th week and 1st single Rolling in the Deep is still hanging on at #32 on its 61st week on the chart, the longest staying song. And now comes the official 4th single Rumour Has It is climbing already as it leaps #51 to #39 this week. Can Adele make it 4/4 at #1? Let's wait and see.

Gotye feat Kimbra's Somebody That I Used to Know, which is #1 on the UK Singles Charts for 3 weeks now, is starting to makes in America as the song leaps #16 to #9 this week. The song is currently in the top of US iTunes so it could likely go all way in the top 5 but the airplay needs to catch up to ensure a higher peak (and who knows a shot at #1 as well)

Train's Drive By jumps #32 to #23 this week, this is the band's 5th highest charting song after their top 20 hits Meet in Virginia in 1999 (#15), Drops of Jupiter in 2001 (#5), Calling All Angels in 2003 (#19) and their biggest hit to date, Hey Soul Sister in 2010 (#3).

This week's top debut comes from the Far East Movement and Justin Bieber collaboration Live My Life which bows at #21. This is the group's 3rd Hot 100 entry after the #1 single Like a G6 and the #7 peaking single Rocketeer while this is Bieber's 12th top 40 hit.

Going recurrent this week is Gym Class Heroes and Adam Levine's Stereo Hearts which stayed on the chart for 37 weeks and peaked at #4.
