Philippine Box Office Roundup 14

Sorry this took so long! My 13th Roundup was posted two weeks ago and this week's roundup is a combination of the box office results of the last two weeks. As always here are some notes and disclaimers:
  • The following box office stats are from the ever awesome Box Office Mojo's Philippine Box Office Index. Thus, my box office comparisons and analysis are only limited to what Box Office Mojo has in its records
  • Studios and local distributors sometimes issues press releases about the box office performance of their movies and there are instances that they do not exactly match the data Box Office Mojo have in hand. I'm not sure how wide Box Office Mojo's scope is with our local theaters but for the purposes of a consistent discussion and analysis I will only focus on the numbers posted at Box Office Mojo.
  • I added some stuff like the Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol box office for 2012 since Box Office Mojo does not include that 2011 holdover on their Top Movies 2012 list. Meanwhile the box office numbers for the holdovers from the MMFF last year are not on BOM's list so they're not on here as well.
  • Box Office Mojo does not have the numbers for Ayala Cinemas Exclusive My Week with Marilyn so it's not on the charts below.

What else is there left to say with The Avengers box office run? It's simply mind blowing. The movie as of May 27, 2012 already amassed a monumental 640 million pesos, more than box office of the #2-#5 movies combined! The show now on its 5th week is still showing on a substantial amount of theaters so that movie could still earn a few more bucks before it bows out. I doubt there's any movie that will come out this year that could challenge it for the top spot.

A bunch of movies opened during the last two weeks with mix results. Men in Black 3 did the best earning 71.2 million pesos for its first five days while two local flicks did solid numbers: Star Cinema's romcom Every Breath U Take (which I personally liked) earned 42 million pesos in 2 weeks while Regal's comedy flick The Mommy Returns earned 30.6 million pesos. Low profile movies did weak to so-so numbers: Safe (9 million pesos), What To Expect When You're Expecting (3.6 million pesos), StreetDance 2 (2.3 million pesos) and SM exclusive Pirates! The Band of Misfits (2.07 million pesos). Data for the Ayala cinemas exclusive The Raven is not available.

Here are the Philippine Box Office charts (both in dollars and pesos) as I originally posted at the BoxOffice.com forums:
