Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: April 14, 2012)

This week seems like Justin Bieber will finally get his first #1 hit but it wasn't the time yet for the teen sensation. Boyfriend, the lead single from Bieber's third studio albumm dominated iTunes and actually sold 521K but fun. and Janelle Monae's We Are Young was unstoppbale and spends a 5th week atop the Billboard Hot 100.

As Billboard reports, We Are Young was able to overcome Boyfriend's massive first week sales thanks to its huge lead in On-Demand songs chart (subscription-based streaming of songs online) where the song is still #1 while Boyfriend failed to register. Plus add to the fact that the song is still huge on sales and airplay so therefore We Are Young had all the elements in place to stay on top.

Bieber's Boyfriend settles for a #2 debut which is still his highest peaking song to date and unlike his previous songs, which starts high on sales but drastically drops the succeeding week, the song is actually holding up well on iTunes as it is currently at #3 and could probably be a long lasting hit. Boyfriend is also his first top 10 hit without any featured artist as Baby (#5) had Ludacris while Never Say Never (#8) had Jaden Smith.

Elsewhere on the chart, Gotye and Kimbra's Somebody That I Used To Know rises #4-#3 and is contention for #1 as the song is currently #2 on iTunes and On-Demand streaming plus rising airplay to boot. The song will also be featured on Glee that could help it widen its exposure.

Two UK/Irish boybands are on the top 10 first is The Wanted's Glad You Came which slips #3-#4 while One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful jumps #11-#9. Is the late 90s teen pop craze back? We have Bieber at #2 plus the two boybands and also joining the top 10 is Canadian Idol alum Carly Rae Jaepsen's Call Me Maybe which leaps #18-#10. Jaepsen is not a teen anymore (she's 26) but her song is bubblegum pop and definitely appeals to the teen crowd.

After several weeks there are no Rihanna and Adele songs in the top 10. Drake and Rihanna's Take Care drops #9-#11 while Adele's former #1 Set Fire to the Rain slips #6 to #12. Both ladies have songs on the rise though that could earn them another top 10 hit. Rihanna's Birthday Cake rises #34 to #30 while Adele's Rumour Has It climbs #44 to #35 this week.

Speaking of Adele, this might the final chart week for two of her songs: Rolling in the Deep drops #43 to #49 this week on its 65th week while right next to it is Someone Like You which descends #39-#48 on its 39th week on the chart. If by some twist of fate and Rolling in the Deep manages to hold for another week, it will surpass Jewel's You Were Meant for Me/Foolish Games stay on the chart to be the 3rd longest staying on the chart after Lee Ann Rhimes' How Do I Live (69 weeks) and Jason Mraz's I'm Yours (76 weeks).

A bunch of songs dropping out and going recurrent this week: Taylor Swift's Ours (20 weeks, peak: #13), Katy Perry's The One That Got Away (24 weeks, peak: #3), David Guetta and Usher's Without You (30 weeks, peak: #4), Rihanna's You Da One (20 weeks, peak: #14) and The Black Keys' Lonely Boy (20 weeks, peak: #64).
