Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: Dec. 8, 2012)

Rihanna's Diamonds logs its second week atop the Billboard Hot 100 and what's even better for the pop singer is that she also finally her first #1 album with her new set Unapologetic debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. This marks the first time since Adele that the one artist holds the top spot for both singles and albums chart. Adele actually did it three times as there is at least a week when Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You and Set Fire to the Rain topped the chart when Adele's 21 was #1 on Billboard 200 (21 by the crosses the 10 million sales mark this week which is very impressive in this day of age where album sales are declining rapidly).

Elsewhere on the chart , PSY's Gangnam Style rebounded #7-#5 thanks to a sales boost from his much-talked about performance in the 2012 American Music Awards where he shared the stage with M.C Hammer in a mash up of Gangnam Style and the rapper's  90s smash 2 Legit 2 Quit.

Philipp Phillips' Home earns a new peak on its 22nd week on the chart as the song climbs #12-#8. Its previous peak was at #9 when it got a boost when the song was used for an Olympic commercial. The song debuted at #10 in the wake of his American Idol win. This time the song manages to climb back to the top 10 as the song is enjoying airplay rise which also boosted his sales.

Meanwhile, The Voice Season 3 finalist Cassadee Pope (formerly of the band Hey Monday) is this week's top debut with her The Voice performance of Miranda Lambert's Over You. Her cover enters the chart at #25.

Dropping out this week to graduate to recurrent status are Maroon Five's Payphone (peak: 2,  31 weeks on the chart) and Katy Perry's Wide Awake (peak: 2, 26 weeks on the chart). This marks the first time since April 2010 that Hot 100 does not have a Katy Perry song on the chart. Also dropping after just 9 weeks on the chart is Christina Aguilera's Your Body peaking at #34.

Longest chart sitter Ellie Goulding's Lights drops #27-#33 this week on its 49th week on the chart. A song that is likely finally going out of the chart in 1 to 2 weeks is Gotye's smash hit Somebody That I Used To Know which drops #36 to #43 on its 47th week on the chart. The song will likely top Billboard's Yearend chart which will be published. I will share my Billboard Yearend Top 20 prediction next week so watch out for that.
