FOX Schedule Thoughts

Earlier NBC released their schedule for TV season 2011-2012 and now it's FOX's turn. Like earlier I'll share my thoughts too. I mostly got their schedule right with my speculations/suggestion I shared yesterday, it was just a logical move for FOX which is a strong network over all. Here's their schedule:

FOX FALL 2011 PRIMETIME SCHEDULE

MONDAY
8:00-9:00 PM TERRA NOVA (new)
9:00-10:00 PM HOUSE
My schedule was the other way around but this style makes sense since after a year of hype, and the calibre (it's produced by Steven Spielberg no less) "Terra Nova" should be a self starter plus it has the chance to attract a family audience as well. House ratings dipped this season but with going back to its former 9pm slot, House could see a likely increase in ratings since 9pm shows usually rates higher because viewing level is high at 9pm compared to 8pm
TUESDAY
8:00-9:00 PM GLEE
9:00-9:30 PM NEW GIRL (wt) (new)
9:30-10:00 PM RAISING HOPE
This is exactly what I predicted female appealing sitcom "The New Girl" starring Zoey Deschanel should have good audience flow with top rated "Glee". "Raising Hope" will improve the performance of 'Running Wilde" and "Traffic Light".
WEDNESDAY
8:00-9:30 PM THE X FACTOR Performance Show (new)
9:30-10:00 PM I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (wt) (new)
My original prediction was The X Factor will be on for two straight hours although I did mention the possibility that FOX could just trim it down to 1.5 hours and giving the last half hour to "I Hate My Teenage Daughter", this is a good option rather than just sit out this sitcom and who knows maybe this will work out fine for FOX.

THURSDAY
8:00-9:00 PM THE X FACTOR Results Show (new)
9:00-10:00 PM BONES
I was spot on with this again. Bones has been a reliable performer for FOX all these years

FRIDAY
8:00-9:00 PM KITCHEN NIGHTMARES
9:00-10:00 PM FRINGE
This combination worked out for FOX the past midseason so it was not surprise they tried this out again
SATURDAY
8:00-8:30 PM COPS
8:30-9:00 PM COPS
9:00-10:00 PM ENCORES / AMERICA’S MOST WANTED (specials)
America's Most Wanted will not be weekly anymore and will just be quarterly specials from now on. Minor surprise I must say
SUNDAY
7:00-7:30 PM THE OT (NFL post-game)
7:30-8:00 PM THE CLEVELAND SHOW
8:00-8:30 PM THE SIMPSONS
8:30-9:00 PM ALLEN GREGORY (new)
9:00-9:30 PM FAMILY GUY
9:30-10:00 PM AMERICAN DAD
I was surprised to see The Cleveland Show anchoring Animation Domination but then again it's slightly a stronger performer than American Dad. I thought Napoleon Dynamite will be launched first and I was a little surprise they didn't give it the post Family Guy slot but as one commenter pointed on my FOX schedule post FOX launched shows better out of The Simpsons better than Family Guy, so it makes sense and it feels like "Family Guy" is a mismatch for Allen Gregory.

FOX MIDSEASON 2012 PRIMETIME SCHEDULE
(All Times ET/PT)
MONDAY
8:00-9:00 PM HOUSE
9:00-10:00 PM ALCATRAZ (new)
For midseason House slides back at 8pm to help launch JJ Abrams sci fi drama "Alcatraz". I guess Terra Nova will just have 13 episodes because it likely has higher production budget due to the concept of dinosaurs a limited order is more feasible.
TUESDAY
8:00-9:00 PM GLEE
9:00-9:30 PM NEW GIRL (wt) (new)
9:30-10:00 PM RAISING HOPE
WEDNESDAY
8:00-9:30 PM AMERICAN IDOL Performance Show
9:30-10:00 PM I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (wt) (new)
THURSDAY
8:00-9:00 PM AMERICAN IDOL Results Show
9:00-10:00 PM THE FINDER (new) / BONES (spring)
I predicted this too that the Bones' spin off "The Finder" will timeshare with its parent program.
FRIDAY
8:00-9:00 PM KITCHEN NIGHTMARES
9:00-10:00 PM FRINGE

So Kitchen Nightmares will be around for a full season? Quite surprised
SATURDAY
8:00-8:30 PM COPS
8:30-9:00 PM COPS
9:00-10:00 PM ENCORES / AMERICA’S MOST WANTED (specials)
SUNDAY
7:00-7:30 PM ANIMATION DOMINATION (encores)
7:30-8:00 PM THE CLEVELAND SHOW
8:00-8:30 PM THE SIMPSONS
8:30-9:00 PM NAPOLEON DYNAMITE (new)
9:00-9:30 PM FAMILY GUY
9:30-10:00 PM BOB’S BURGERS

Napoleon Dynamite takes Allen Gregory's slot while American Dad finishes out early to give way to Bob's Burgers

Overall this a pretty good schedule even if it is predictable but FOX is strong network overall so it does not really need to make drastic changes. although it's still up in the air if X Factor will be big because if it fails it will bring a huge part of FOX's line up down. I don't think X Factor's ratings will come close to American Idol's huge numbers but I bet it will get high enough ratings nevertheless. Although I do wonder if eventually having two singing competitions on one season could hurt FOX in the future as it could tire people out. This is the most interesting aspect to watch out for FOX for next TV season. Stay tuned
