Billboard Hot 100 (May 7, 2011)

After giving Rihanna a break to grab her 10th #1 (and Britney Spears' 5th) last week with "S&M", Katy Perry's "E.T" with Kanye West reclaims the top position for a 4th non-consecutive week at #1. Meanwhile, Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" zooms #6-#2 due to its strongest sales week thanks to the exposure the song got when American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart performed the song last week. Will the song go all the way to #1? This song peaked at #2 on the UK charts (but her second single "Someone Like You" picked up the slack and ruled the UK Singles chart for 5 weeks) will it suffer the same fate in the U.S? Let's wait and see. But Adele is actually smashing the airwaves with rising airplay plus her album "21" has already sold 1 million copies in the US and it's still selling like hotcakes. I'm personally rooting for this song to hit #1. Adele has the best shot to top both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 albums chart which hasn't happened since January 2010 when Ke$ha topped the Hot 100 with "Tik Tok" while her debut album "Animal" debuted atop the albums chart.

Last week's #1 "S&M" tumbles #1-#4 and is no longer credits Britney Spears as Billboard rules say that it will only credit a remix version of a song if it sells/has more airplay than the original and after strong opening sales, the "Rih-mix" of "S&M" fizzled.As expected Bruno Mars lands his 5ht straight Top 10 Hit (and soon to be Top 5 hit) as 'The Lazy Song" climbs #11-#6 this week.

Rebecca Black's "Friday" is hanging on the chart at #100, this song has been on the chart for six weeks already. Who knew it would last this long.

"Dynamite" continues its very impressive chart run on the Hot 100 logging in its 47th week on the chart this week. Also entering the magic "40 weeks" circle is Bruno Mars' "Just The Way You Are". Mars' second hit "Grenade" spends it 30th week on the chart this week too.
