"Born This Way" Debuts Atop Hot 100

Lady GaGa made a big splash as her new single "Born This Way" made its chart debut on top of the Billboard Hot 100. "Born This Way" had an impressive debut as it was released on radio and for sale last Friday and since the Billboard cutoff is before midnight of Sunday, it accumulated enough points on just three days to debut atop the Hot 100. "Born This Way" sold 448k downloads on its first three days of sale. It's the 3rd biggest opening sales week in Billboard history after Flo Rida's "Right Round" (636K) in February 2009 and Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" (sold 465) in April 2009. But those two songs had full week of sales so if "Born This Way" there's a possibility it could have beaten "Right Round's " record. The first single from Lady GaGa's sophomore album also set records in airplay as it starts on the Radio Songs chart which tracks airplay at #6 with 78.5 audience impression, the biggest since Janet Jackson's "All For You" which debuted at #9 with 70 million audience impression in 2001 as reported at

Last week I predicted Katy Perry's "Firework" will return at #1 thanks to the Glee boost but no thanks to Lady Gaga's massive debut, what would have been "Firework" 3rd trip at #1 was thwarted and Katy Perry has to settle for #2 this week. Last week's #1 "Black and Yellow" by Whiz Khalifa goes back to #4, the position it had two weeks ago.

The three songs with the "F" word are right next to each this week! Here is this week's Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100:
  1. Born This Way - Lady GaGa
  2. Firework - Katy Perry
  3. Grenade - Bruno Mars
  4. Black and Yellow - Whiz Khalifa
  5. F**kin' Perfect - Pink
  6. Tonight (I'm Lovin'/F**kin' You) - Enrique Iglesias
  7. F**k You (Forget You) -Cee Lo Green
  8. S&M - Rihanna
  9. The Time (Dirty Bit) - Black Eyed Peas
  10. Hold It Against Me - Britney Spears
